"Gorgonian" depicts the vulnerability of coral reefs to rising ocean temperatures. As corals take centuries to fully form and thousands to develop into reefs, global warming has taken a toll on these marine invertebrates. While most of the art piece remains harmoniously intact, a central portrayal of coral bleaching conveys their fragility. Like coral's response to warming oceans, emitting neon colors, "Gorgonian" replicates that response when exposed to LED light.
