“Permafrost” intricately captures the fragility in the heart of the Arctic, where a silent crisis looms as the permafrost, the frozen bedrock of our northern landscapes, steadily thaws due to escalating temperatures. This thawing triggers the release of trapped greenhouse gases, accelerating global warming. Rising sea levels, disrupted ecosystems, and the resurgence of ancient pathogens are among the stark consequences. Woven loose threads echo exposed roots, while the top glass beads depict sinkholes, and irregularly placed beads represent frozen soil layers. Through symbolism and meticulous design, this piece prompts reflection on the impact of climate change.
